Tha se Leo Maria journeys into the hidden life of the Greek countryside to contemplate the dual and ever-questioning nature of what it means to be human amid the ruins of history, the harsh rural landscape, and the contemporary world. The protagonist moves restlessly through a terrain of fractures, suspended between beauty and violence, Christianity and ancient worship, truth and illusion.
Children, parents, foxes, sparrows, fields, saints, and the fruit of a cherry tree blooming beneath the water each tell, in their own way, stories of religion's ascents and standstills, the demonic miracles of ritual, and the forbidden desires of humankind.
The work unfolds as both a litany and a hymn of praise, a ritual of sacred theophagy within a landscape of primordial ecstasy. It is a journey through the hidden Greece of mysticism, paganism, and paradox, a world that has survived the threshing machine of rationalism.
Ultimately, the work stands as both testimony and allegory for contemporary humanity: for the person who secretly longs for the irrational, and who, deep within, continues to seek the strange, the paradoxical, and the miraculous.
